August 2011
Energiekontor UK has completed the project financing of Hyndburn wind farm. This is a significant milestone for the UK company and will allow construction of its third UK wind farm to proceed. The wind farm, scheduled to be fully commissioned in autumn 2012, will use REpower mm82 turbines to provide an installed capacity of 24.6MW. Galliford Try Infrastructure has been awarded the balance of plant contract to build the wind farm and are expecting to commence construction works late 2011. Dinsdale Moorland Services are appointed to undertake moor restoration works which are part of a long term ecological enhancement plan to improve the peat moorland.

The wind farm development could contribute a substantial amount of clean and sustainable electricity to help meet our needs in the face of increasingly significant environmental challenges. In response to our Community Update leaflet we were very pleased that the majority of replies were in favour of the wind farm. We would encourage anyone who wants to demonstrate their support for the planning application to make their views known to the Council. For your convenience there is a letter generating facility on this website - just click on the ‘Support our Proposal’ link on the left and complete your details.
